Description

The River Eden is one of England`s cleanest rivers and not only is it a breeding river for salmon and trout, the graceful and mysterious game fish Grayling can be found. The `Lady of the Stream` is rightly regarded by aficionados as `the 4th game fish`. The adipose fin and other aspects of its biology define it as a game fish. Coarse fishing methods are commonly used to catch Grayling. In Scotland the Grayling has become very popular with coarse anglers who treat it with affection and have taken it to their hearts. Fishing for the grayling will set your heart racing as you feel the sensation of unleashed savage power of the grayling.

The river is also of high invertebrate interest for species associated with river shingles and sandbanks. The Eden supports a high diversity of breeding birds. The sand martins nesting in the riverbanks comprise the largest colony in Cumbria and this area is of regional importance for wintering wildfowl and otters. Learn about the river, its wildlife, the life history, habits and food of the grayling, watercraft, stealth, and how to master the forgotten art of trotting a float, using a centre pin reel with a fully qualified and insured instructor in beautiful and tranquil surroundings. All tackle, bait, rods, permits and tuition are provided, wellies and waders can also be provided.
